Route 1 — WIOA workforce grants
The federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) funds job training for eligible adults, administered locally through your state's workforce development board. It can cover most or all tuition at an approved provider.
Who typically qualifies
- Unemployed or underemployed residents
- Income-eligible adults, or dislocated workers who lost a job
- You generally must enroll at a school on the state's approved provider list
How to start
Contact your local workforce board before you enroll and pay — grants generally can't reimburse tuition already paid.

Route 2 — Company-sponsored training
Carriers fund CDL programs and recover the cost through your first months of driving. You pay little or nothing upfront; in return you commit to driving for that carrier for roughly 8–12 months. How company-sponsored training works →
